Town hall meeting set on state budget outlook
A joint town hall meeting to discuss Oregon's budget situation will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon in the Council Chamber, Eugene City Hall, 777 Pearl St.
Sens. Bill Morrisette, Floyd Prozanski and Vicki Walker; Reps. Phil Barnhart, Terry Beyer, Paul Holvey and Nancy Nathanson; Paul Warner, legislative revenue officer; and Ken Rocco, legislative fiscal officer, will discuss the latest revenue estimate from the state economist and the state's 2009-11 budget.
Springfield sponsors spring recycling event
SPRINGFIELD - The city of Springfield's 21st annual Spring Cleanup will be held Saturday at 1600 South B St.
The free event will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is open to people who live within Springfield city limits. Proof of residency (driver's license) will be required.
Materials that cannot be accepted include household garbage or chemicals, fluores cent lights or alkaline batteries.

Dahlia Society sale offers locally grown tubers

Garage sale to raise funds for class trip to U.S. capital
SPRINGFIELD - The Agnes Stewart Middle School eighth-grade class will hold a garage sale Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 900 S. 32nd St. in Springfield. Proceeds will be used to finance a year-end trip to Washington, D.C. No early sales.
Event to mark renovation of West University Park
A celebration of newly renovated West University Park will be held Saturday from noon to 3 p.m.
Mayor Kitty Piercy will be featured speaker for a dedication ceremony that begins at 2:15 p.m. Music, food and door prizes will be available. The park is at Hilyard Street and East 14th Avenue.
Overeaters Anonymous plans information session
A public information session about Overeaters Anony mous will be held Saturday from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at United Methodist Ebbert Memorial Church, 532 C St. in Springfield. Several OA members will share their experiences and answer questions.

Fun run and walk to aid children's advocacy group
Court Appointed Special Advocates will sponsor a "Champions for Children Fun Run/Walk" Saturday beginning at 8:30 a.m. at Marist High School.
The event includes an 8K run/walk, a 2-mile walk and a 400-meter kids' run. The cost is $23 for adults through Friday and $25 the day of race. Kids are $5. The 400-meter kids' run is free. Proceeds support CASA. Register at www.casa-lane.org.
Coast Fork watershed cleanup planned
COTTAGE GROVE - The Coast Fork Watershed Council, the city of Cottage Grove and SOLV will sponsor the fourth annual watershed cleanup Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is part of Cottage Grove's Oregon 150th celebration.
Volunteers should meet at the Cottage Grove Community Center, 700 E. Gibbs Ave., for registration, equipment, safety information and free drop-in yoga session. Participants will then be directed to a location for cleanup. To register, call Teresa Cowan, 942-1185, or Pam Reber, 767-9717.
After the cleanup, registrants are invited to a free celebration lunch and raffle for prizes from businesses at 1 p.m. in Prospector Park.
ACLU meeting to hear from state lawmakers
The ACLU of Oregon will hold its annual membership meeting on Saturday from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Eugene Water and Electric Board Community Room, 500 E. Fourth Ave.
Sen. Floyd Prozanski and Rep. Paul Holvey will join Andrea Meyer, legislative director for the ACLU of Oregon, to address civil liberties issues before the state Legislature. Executive Director David Fidanque will give an update on national issues.
