Concert will help provide blankets for homeless
As part of White Bird's annual blanket drive to help the homeless, there will be a benefit concert Saturday at the Wandering Goat Coffee Company.
The event is a fundraiser for the Crisis Assistance Helping Out on the Streets program, better known as CAHOOTS.
A $5 donation or a gift of a blanket at the door will get you in to see performances by Wetsock, Pistol Whipped Prophets and Shock Troops.
Shock Troops are a Portland- based tribute act that will cover songs by various punk rock groups.
The show starts at 7 p.m. at 268 Madison St.
KLCC's `Front Porch' offers live music, skits
During this weekend's "Music From the Front Porch" program on KLCC-FM, broadcast from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, fans can expect a special broadcast dubbed the "Front Porch Revue."
It will be a live broadcast with local musical talent, skits and a monologue in the style of Garrison Keillor's "Prairie Home Companion."
Dan Plaster will host the program, with special appearances from the Green Mountain Bluegrass Band and, as they call their duo, the "Love Sisters": local singers Deb Cleveland and Barb Healy.
Cleveland and Healy are popular blues vocalists who both front their own bands. But they joined forces a couple of years ago after performing at an event together and realizing how much fun they have sharing the stage.
Dan Bilderback is the musical director for the show. He will play in the house band with Rich Spence, Scoop McGuire and Virginia Cohen.
Cohen is the featured performer in the Porch Band, which has formed for this special holiday broadcast.
The program is possible because of KLCC's expanded new downtown studio and its SELCO Performance Hall.
