Lane County to begin dust abatement on roads

Lane County Public Works road maintenance crews will provide dust abatement on various gravel roads throughout rural Lane County beginning June 5 and running through June 12.

Treating the gravel roads aims to prevent dust, which can damage vegetation and crops and affect the health of road users and property owners, according to public works officials. The county uses an organic substance to reduce dust on the roadways.

Dust alsocan create unsafe driving conditions and increase maintenance costs, county officials said.

Dust abatement is provided on an annual basis for selected gravel roads throughout rural Lane County.

The dust abatement services will cause road closures and delays.Work will be done from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
