Yard Dogs Road Show
to stop at the WOW Hall
Sword swallowers, fire eaters, burlesque performers and sideshow oddities will take center stage when the Yard Dogs Road Show with Eddy Joe Cotton hits the WOW Hall on Tuesday.
This 13-member mobile cabaret performs to the `cartoon Gypsy music' of the Golden Wings of Glory. Founder Cotton, who authored the 2003 bestseller "Hobo: A Young Man's Thoughts on Trains and Tramping in America," will be on hand to bring the whole thing together.
Among the acts on tour in 2005: Bone Daddy, Black and Blue Burlesque, Rick Rainbow, Hellvis, the Twelve Toed Man and Tobias, a sword swallower and "human fountain."
Tickets are $8. The showtime is 8:30 p.m.
Community arts group
schedules an orientation
The Community Center for the Performing Arts, the organization that operates the WOW Hall, will train and orient volunteers at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
After listening to an introduction from house manager Kayte McDonald and assistant volunteer coordinators Reed Davaz-McGowan and Talia Keen, prospective volunteers can sign up for various positions.
Those 21 and older will receive additional training about Oregon's liquor laws.

Wade into summer fun
at University Park event
The city of Eugene's Fun for All Summer program will host a free wading pool party from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at University Park, at 24th Avenue and University Street.
The program, "Abajo del Agua (Under the Water),' will feature crafts and games using Spanish words for sea animals. Music, face-painting and prizes will fill out the afternoon.
