EWEB manager to lead

nonprofit energy group

Mat Northway, manager of energy management services at the Eugene Water & Electric Board, was named chairman of the board overseeing the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance.

The nonprofit group of electric utilities, state governments, public interest groups and industry representatives works to bring affordable, energy-efficient products and services to the marketplace in Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Montana.

Northway, previously the group's treasurer, will serve a one-year term as chairman.

EWEB is the state's largest customer-owned utility, serving about 80,000 customers. Northway's department operates the residential, commercial and industrial conservation programs, the solar energy and fuel cell pilot programs, and power quality services.

Red Cross chapter

elects new officers

The Oregon Pacific Chapter of the American Red Cross has elected the following officers: chairman, Garry Kunkel of Eugene; vice chairman, Mary Johnson of Corvallis; treasurer, Mel Nygaard of Roseburg; and secretary, Brian Smith of Corvallis.

Also elected to the American Red Cross are the following board members: Vito Aiello, Jacob Alderson, Eileen Beban, Dennis Down, Sandee Gerber, Niki Jeffries, Al Lushenko, Lynden Mittleider, Terry Murphey, Mark Perrin and Peggy Saleeby, all of Eugene; Nancy Hawley of Newport; Joan Knudtson of Glide; Janice Lentsch of Corvallis; and Claudia Vangstad of Winchester.
