BRIEFLY RAMOS TOP WOMAN IN SENATE DISTRICT.

BURBANK - City Councilwoman Marsha Ramos was recognized Monday as Woman of the Year for the 21st California Senate District during a celebration at the state Capitol.

Ramos was chosen by State Sen. Jack Scott, D-Pasadena, for her many contributions to the community.

She is a founding board member of the Boys & Girls Club of Burbank, a 20-year member of the Burbank Human Relations Council, past chairwoman of the Burbank Police Commission and past chairwoman of the Burbank Park and Recreation Board.

She also serves on the boards of the Family Service Agency of Burbank, the Burbank Noon Rotary Club, Habitat for Humanity and the Burbank Family YMCA.

New rabbi chosen for Temple Sinai

GLENDALE - Rabbi Jonathan Biatch, a San Fernando Valley native, has been chosen to start heading Temple Sinai of Glendale on July 1, officials said Monday.

He will succeed Rabbi Carole Meyers, who stepped down last year. Born and raised in Studio City, Biatch has served as associate rabbi at Beth El Hebrew Congregation in Alexandria, Va.
