Florence concert to feature bass-cello duo
FLORENCE - The Seacoast Entertainment Association's concert for November, at 7 p.m. today, will be an evening at the Florence Events Center featuring the Bottom Line Duo.
The cello-and-bass combo will play classical, modern, Broadway and jazz tunes, and throw in a dose of humor to boot.
Tickets are $20, and there is a free preconcert talk at 6:15 p.m.

Singer Halie Loren to perform in Drain
DRAIN - North Douglas Performing Arts Council presents Halie Loren for a concert at 7 p.m. today at Drain Civic Center, 205 West A St.
Based in Eugene, Loren is an internationally recognized artist often compared to Norah Jones, Melody Gardot and Eva Cassidy, a news release says. Her repertoire spans jazz, pop, classic rock and folk.
Loren's 2008 jazz release, "They Oughta Write a Song," won best vocal jazz album at the 2009 JPF Music awards, the release says.
Admission is $5.
Circus-style show set for tonight
COTTAGE GROVE - The audience at the Squidling Brothers Circus Sideshow, presented by local band Aeon Now, will be treated to a variety of circus acts, belly dancing, sword swallowing, comedy and theatrical music at 8:30 p.m. today at Arcade Theater, 513 Main St.
"You'll feel desirably defiled and delightfully delirious as these dedicated demonic deviants deftly deliver their dextrous deeds," a news release says.
The host is Jelly Boy the Clown.
The show also features sword swallower Betty Bloomerz and Matterz Squidling the Impenetrable Music Man, the release says.
Aeon Now, a dream funk band from Cottage Grove, will open the show with "accordion bellows, drum beats, washboard scrubbings and big brass," the release says.
Admission is $5 to $7 at the door.
Marimba group to play at fundraiser
A nonprofit community organization, the West African Cultural Arts Institute, presents a family friendly event to raise money at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Local marimba band Kudana will perform for this dance party fundraiser at Cozmic Pizza, 199 W. Eighth Ave.
Kudana has been entertaining crowds throughout the Pacific Northwest for more than three decades. The group plays the music of the Shona people of Zimbabwe.
"Kudana's performances are always filled with lively, positive energy that really inspires audiences to get on their feet and dance," a news release from the institute says.
There will be a silent auction, door prizes and cake.
A donation of $5 to $20 is suggested, with all proceeds going to the Eugene-based institute.
