Downtown brawl leads to one arrest

More than 20 officers from the Eugene Police Department, Lane County Sheriff's Office and Oregon State Police responded about 2 a.m. Sunday to reports of a large number of people fighting in front of the Rock N Rodeo club at 44 E. Seventh Ave. in downtown Eugene.

Fights spilled out into and across Seventh Avenue, police said, and traffic was briefly shut down as officers sought to gain control of the situation. Once order was restored, the crowd was ordered to disperse, police said.

No serious injuries were reported, and only one arrest was made. Ladel Lawrence Stone, 23, was charged with disorderly conduct, interfering with a police officer and failure to appear on a charge of strangulation. He was lodged in Lane County Jail with bail set at more than $14,000.
