Trailer tips over, closing I-5 lanes

The southbound lanes of Interstate 5 north of Coburg were closed about 90 minutes Sunday morning after a single-vehicle noninjury crash, state police said. A travel trailer tipped over, blocking both lanes, and a leaking propane tank had to be removed from the trailer by the Coburg Fire Department.

The accident occurred about 8 a.m. when a 2002 Ford Explorer pulling a 32-foot travel trailer was headed south on I-5. The Ford's driver, Jerome Everett Thomas, 51, told police he was in the right lane when a commercial truck passed him in the left lane. The draft from the passing truck caused Thomas to lose control and his vehicle to jackknife, he said.

The Ford did not roll over, and Thomas was not injured.
