Byline: The Register-GuardFundraiser to help with cheerleader's trip
A fundraiser will be held today at the Gateway Denny's, 987 Kruse Way in Springfield, for Thurston High School JV cheerleader Miranda Saultz, 16, who has been selected by the United Spirit Association to represent Thurston as an All-American cheerleader in the New Year's parade in London, England.
The restaurant will donate 10 percent of all sales today to help underwrite the cost of Saultz's trip.
EWEB's riverfront acres open for public tour
Community members interested in riverfront development possibilities will have a chance to walk the Eugene Water & Electric Board's 27 acres on Wednesday.
The utility plans to move its operations and maintenance functions to west Eugene and will pay for the move by selling a portion of its land along the Willamette River.
The Wednesday meeting is the first of several inviting public participation in the development of a master plan guiding redevelopment of the property.
The "behind the fences" tour begins at 6 p.m. at the North Building, 500 E. Fourth Ave., followed by a background presentation and group discussions on possible future uses for the property. Those attending should wear comfortable shoes to walk the site. Child care, assisted listening and Spanish translation are available with advance notice.

Trauma and healing presentation planned
The Opal Network will sponsor a presentation on "Trauma & Healing" from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. today in the Tykeson Room at the Eugene Public Library, 100 W. 10th Ave.
Patricia Henry-Schneider, LPC, Elaine Walters, executive director of the Trauma Healing Project, and trauma survivor Kathleen McNeal will be the speakers.
Also, a brief projected photo show titled "Who Was Opal Whiteley?" will be presented by Steve Williamson of University of Oregon.
H1N1 town hall forum offered by Rob Handy
Lane County Commissioner Rob Handy will host an "H1N1: What You Need to Know" town hall forum from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church, 1376 Olive St.
