Natural history museum event targets potential volunteers

The Museum of Natural and Cultural History will hold an open house for potential volunteers from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday at the museum, 1680 E. 15th Ave.

This fall, volunteers will have the opportunity to work with current exhibits that feature music, dance and instruments from around the globe, according to Ann Craig, assistant director of education.

Volunteers will attend a series of training sessions in October that will combine hands-on learning, lectures and discussions. Other fall programs include an archaeology lecture series and a family day.

Psychiatric survivors, others can gather at library Tuesday

The Opal Network will meet at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Tykeson Room at the Eugene Public Library.

The meeting provides an opportunity for advocates of mental health consumers/psychiatric survivors to gather. Sponsors include MindFreedom.

Emotional Freedom Techniques movie shown free at library

Local therapists Louis and Ruthanne Carosio will offer a free viewing of the movie "Try It On Everything" from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Eugene Public Library. The movie is about the Emotional Freedom Techniques and follows 10 people through a weekend retreat where they use the techniques to address individual physical and emotional challenges.

LTD plans open house to discuss plans for new rapid bus route

Lane Transit District will hold an open house on plans for a rapid bus route near the Amazon Channel at 13th Avenue and Garfield Street at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Berean Baptist Church, 1210 Chambers St.
