BRIEFLY C.G. AUXILIARY SEEKS MEMBERS.

SANTA CLARITA - The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 43 of Santa Clarita is seeking new members. The auxiliary is the volunteer arm of the Coast Guard, devoted to promoting boating safety through search and rescue patrols on the nearby mountain lakes and, at times, the ocean. The group also offers boating classes and examinations of safety equipment.

Auxiliary members have no law enforcement powers and no military duty is involved. Members are trained in the classroom and on the water. Advanced training is available free in boat handling, piloting, radio communications, navigation and other areas.

The auxiliary patrols the lakes and ocean under Coast Guard orders, rendering assistance to boaters in distress.

An informational meeting is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. March 27 in council chambers at Santa Clarita City Hall, 23920 Valencia Blvd. For information, call Ralph Steffen at (661) 298-8725.
