BRIEFLY : QUICK QUAKE JIGGLES THE OXNARD REGION.

A small, 2.6-magnitude earthquake rattled the Oxnard area Monday afternoon, hitting with a sudden force but bringing no known damages.

``It felt like a sonic boom on steroids,'' said Oxnard police Cmdr. Mike Matlock about the quake that came just a day after the fifth anniversary of the Northridge Earthquake. ``It was over before you had time to get nervous about it.''

Officials at the California Institute of Technology said the 2.6-magnitude quake occurred at 2:12 p.m. and was centered 14 miles southeast of Ventura.
