WIDNES man Dennis Outten has invented a lift mechanism the size of a small suitcase that hoists and tips wheelbarrow-loads into skips.

The boss of Easytip has patented his technology in 90 countries through Birkenhead-based patent attorney Potts Kerr. He said the device works off a 12-volt battery that can power 400 separate lifting operations. Loads of 100kg can be lifted and tipped within 25 seconds.

NORTHERN housebuilder Bellway Homes has appointed award-winning sales director Malcolm Bagshaw, 54, to head its sales team. The company said a key part of his remit will be to focus on its prestigious Pall Mall development in Liverpool which will create 159 new apartments.

THE Co-operative Group has invested nearly pounds 250,000 on revamping three convenience stores in Wirral. Two in Birkenhead's Laird Street and Old Chester Road and the Cross Lane store in Bebington have had facelifts as part of a pounds 300m national investment programme.

CHARLES Hatton has been appointed finance director for solicitors Maxwell Entwistle & Byrne, which has six offices in Merseyside.
