BRIAN READE: No spitting hairs, Diouf did lie to us.
AFTER El-Hadji Diouf was banned for spitting at Portsmouth's Arjan De Zeeuw, he defended himself thus: "I wasn't aware of the culture that surrounds spitting in England. In France, it is more serious to thump somebody than to spit at them."
Which I thought was a laughable bleat from a toe-rag.
But now that the French FA have slapped a six-month ban on Fabien Barthez for spitting at a referee, I've changed my mind.
Now I KNOW he's a lying toe-rag and all that's laughable is the gutless wimps at Soho Square who handed this repugnant gobber a piddling three-week ban.
