BREAST-IMPLANT LAWSUITS FILED

DETROIT, Feb. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Thirty-nine additional breast- implant lawsuits were filed on behalf of clients of the Charfoos & Christensen, P.C. law firm today. Defendants include Dow Corning Corporation, McGhan Medical Corporation, Dow Corning Wright Corporation, Heyer-Schulte, Cox-Uphoff a/k/a CUI Corp., and Aesthetech, Inc. Four of the lawsuits are being filed against all manufacturers jointly on the basis of a joint-liability theory because identification of the implants cannot be established. Charfoos & Christensen, P.C. has filed lawsuits on behalf of 152 women to date.
Charfoos & Christensen, P.C. is represented on the Multi District Litigation Committee in the national litigation as well as being active in the Michigan state court cases.
Additional suits will be filed as the specific medical facts of their cases are developed.
The plaintiffs claim that some or all of the defendant silicone breast implant manufacturers were negligent, breached warranties of fitness, engaged in willful and wanton misconduct, and engaged in fraudulent conduct, all of which caused injuries to the women.
Some of the injuries claimed by the various plaintiffs in these lawsuits include: swollen lymph nodes, joint pain, extreme fatigue, acid-like burning of the skin, memory loss, lupus-like symptoms, arthritis-like symptoms, dry eyes, rashes, mouth sores and paralysis.
The complaint asks for damages in excess of $10,000 solely to satisfy the jurisdictional requirements of the Wayne County Circuit Court. It is anticipated that the actual dollar demands will run into the millions. Plaintiffs' claims request compensation and punitive/exemplary damages from the defendant silicone breast manufacturers.
