BRAZILIAN COMPANY ORDERS WEAN INDUSTRIES TUBE DRAWING SYSTEM
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio, Oct. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Wean Industries has received an order from Cia. Fabricadora de Pecas (COFAP) for a highly efficient, in-line tube drawings and straightening system that will be installed in COFAP's Santo Andre plant in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
The COFAP Group is an industrial complex of research, technology, and manufacturing companies with 12,000 employees that specializes in automotive parts and components for domestic and export markets. It will produce accurately sized tubing for automotive shock absorbers and struts on the new, triple draw, 60-tonnes, hydraulic drawbench.
Two exclusive Wean features will be incorporated in this system: automatic feeding of incoming tubes, and push-pointing on the drawbench. After the tubing is drawn, it will be fed in-line to a straightener and then be inspected and discharged to downstream operations.
COFAP expects to reduce its cost and ensure just-in-time delivery of specified tube sizes with its new in-house drawing capability. The plant currently produces ERW tubing which it will draw on the new system. Other production facilities are being relocated within the plant to achieve an optimum product flow through all operations.
Wean Industries, a division of Wean Incorporated, is a leading producer of equipment for processing flat-rolled metals, tubular and bar products, rubber and plastics.
