WOODBURY, N.Y., Nov. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Bravo, television's cultural network, will present the third annual "Unfinished Stories," a major fund-raising effort designed to raise awareness of the AIDS epidemic and benefit community-based AIDS caregiving organizations.
The telethon has been expanded from a two-day event to a five-day event, beginning Dec. 1 from 5 p.m. to 6 a.m. EST, and continuing each Sunday (Dec. 8, 15, 22 and 29) at 9 p.m. EST. Dec. 1 is designated as World AIDS Day by the World Health Organization of the United Nations.
Bravo will coordinate funding of local charities with Broadway Cares, the AIDS support and resource organization of the New York theatrical community. Viewers may call 800-321-AIDS throughout December to pledge funds.
Eric Bogosian, Pierce Brosnan, Geena Davis, Laura Dern, Whoopi Goldberg, Cybill Shepherd, Cheryl Tiegs, Tommy Tune and Eli Wallach are among the stars who have taped informational segments for "Unfinished Stories."
"AIDS affects us all. Every eight minutes a life is lost to AIDS, and it has been a decade since this epidemic was first realized," commented Josh Sapan, president, Bravo. "We believe the absolute immediate need for care is within the community around us."
Highlights include: "Red Hot and Blue," a music video special on AIDS awareness; "Talkin' About AIDS," which talks to teenagers about AIDS, using rap, straight talk from peers and pros; "Tarnished Angels" (1958) starring Rock Hudson; and "A Moment Without Television," a 60- second tribute to people living with AIDS.
Bravo is television's cultural network, offering critically acclaimed American and international films, as well as performances in theater, music and dance. Bravo has more than 7 million subscribers nationally.
