BRAUN APPOINTED CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER OF EMPLOYEE BENEFIT PLANS, INC.
 MINNEAPOLIS, Sept. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Employee Benefit Plans, Inc. (NYSE: EBP) today announced the appointment of Richard J. Braun as chief operating officer of the company. He will report to William E. Sagan, chief executive officer.
 In this position, Braun, 47, is responsible for the company's EBPLife operations; regional claims administration offices; finance, accounting and systems; and human resources.
 "Dick is an experienced and seasoned executive with a strong financial services background," said Sagan. "He also brings to his new position considerable experience in the systems and control area. In his new capacity, he will oversee several system projects, which will increase the efficiency of EBP's operations. We expect to begin to see benefits from these cost savings initiatives during fiscal 1993."
 Most recently, Braun served as senior vice president of EBP and president of EBPLife Insurance Company, having joined EBP in February 1992. From 1989 to 1991, he was executive vice president, chief operating officer and director of Reichand Tang L.P., a publicly-held financial services firm. Previously, he served as president, chief executive officer and director of Investors Fiduciary Trust Company (a subsidiary of Kemper Financial Services), and was a director and held various executive positions with IDS/American Express, a financial services company.
 Braun received his bachelor's degree in 1967 from University of St. Thomas. He also is a CPA and holds an MBA from St. Thomas, as well as a law degree from the University of Iowa.
