BRABENDER COX RECORDS A NUMBER OF IMPRESSIVE VICTORIES
 PITTSBURGH, Nov. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Brabender Cox, a Pittsburgh-

based political media firm, announced today its 1992 win-loss record for its political clients. Overall, the firm scored 9 wins out of the 11 races for which their media and strategy services were retained. One race is currently being contested.
Most impressive was the victory of Republican U.S. Rep. Rick Santorum in Pennsylvania's newly redrawn 18th District. A 71 percent Democratic registration disadvantage caused many to count Santorum out of the race befor it began. However, against all predictions, Santorum won easily with over 61 percent of the vote. One of the television ads produced by Brabender Cox for the Santorum campaign was recognized by CNN and the "Today" show as one of the most creative of the 1992 election cycle.
Also in Pennsylvania, Brabender Cox helped longtime client U.S. Rep. Tom Ridge win re-election with 67 percent of the vote in another predominantly Democratic district including Erie, Pa. Ridge's overwhelming victory has continued to focus speculation on him as the front-runner in the 1994 race for the Governor's office in Pennsylvania
And, in a race many called unwinnable, Brabender Cox brought political newcomer Bill Townsend within striking distance of entrenched incumbent Austin Murphy in Pennsylvania's 20th District. Marred by controversy, this race is currently being contested by local Republicans due to large voting discrepancies in many key counties of the district. Currently, the difference is a mere 3,100 votes, giving Townsend 50 percent of the vote. A recount is very possible.
Brabender Cox also assisted U.S. Rep. Bob Walker in posting one of the largest margins of victory in Pennsylvania. Walker, the chief deputy whip in the House, will begin his eighth term representing the 16th District in January.
Other clients for the 1992 election cycle included the Pennsylvania Republican State Committee, the Pennsylvania Republican State Senate Campaign Committee, State Senate Majority Whip Mike Fisher, Pete Davis for Congress (OH-2), Benedict for Governor (W.V), Doolittle for Congress (CA-14). Brabender Cox also consulted on races in Utah, North Carolina and Wisconsin.
The number of impressive wins builds on Brabender Cox's rating of fourth in the nation in 1990 by Campaigns and Elections magazine among political consulting firms.
