The Bronx Realty Advisory Board, the largest owner-industry organization in the Bronx with more than a thousand members who operate some 2,000 rental apartment buildings, recently elected a full slate of officers and 10 directors for 1992-93.

Unanimously elected were officers Ruben Klein, president; Bernard Axelrod, first vice president; Jerome Waxenberg, second vice president; David Diamond, third vice president; Michael Laub, secretary; Allen Halpern, assistant secretary; Carlin Axelrod, treasurer; Mark Engel, assistant treasurer; and Carol S. Keenan, executive director.

Elected to the BRAB Board as One-Year directors, were Harvey Clarke, Paul Maslin, Leon Robertson and Allen Survey; as Two-Year Directors, George Astor, Arthur Bregman and Paul Pintel; and as Three-Year Directors, Harold Derfner, Gary Perlow and Michael Schmelzer.

Seven ongoing directors, elected in previous years to multiyear terms on the BRAB Board, are Eugene Reisman, Robert Rosenberg, William Sonn, Murray Stark, Jay Sussman, and Leo Sussman.

Klein complimented the officers and Board members for accepting their leadership positions "at a time when many significant issues, including rent-law legislation and several court law-suits, have to be resolved."

BRAB participates with other city organizations in bringing suits regarded as necessary to create a more favorable climate for the affordable housing industry. Currently among the latter are litigation to: * Achieve fairness for owners in the Housing Court * Obtain an equitable water usage levy and a procedure to eliminate liens * Initiate a fairer rent law system, including vacancy decontrol. * Win the right to determine tenant succession * Set fairer, workable methods for Guidelines Board rent increases and DHCR hardship increases.

Members of the BRAB operate more than 150,000 apartments, primarily affordable rental units in the Bronx. The organization offers members a full range of services, including labor negotiations and representation, informational seminars and periodic newsletters.
