BRAB announces contract pact with Building Service Employees.

Ruben Klein, president of the Bronx Realty Advisory Board, announced agreement on a three-year contract between apartment house owners and the Building Service Employees Union, Local 32-E, AFL-CIO.

The collective bargaining agreement, Klein pointed out, was approved by both the union members and the BRAB membership, and will be effective through March 14, 1995.

The BRAB officer, who headed an owners , group that had been negotiating with the union for several months, said "the agreement is fair to both sides. It considers the current recession, the difficult economic straits many owners find themselves in, and the rising rate of in rem property takeovers by the city.

"The contract," he added," is competitive with building service contracts negotiated recently in the industry."

BRAB is one of the largest owner organizations in the Bronx and represents more than 1,000 owners and managers of some 2,000 buildings occupied by over 150,000 families.

The agreement, Klein said, involves compromises by both the owners and the union, and both sides, he observed, are pleased that the agreement was successfully negotiated despite the recessionary economic climate.
