BOYS LOVE IT ON MY COURT.

Byline: EAST FIFE........0 DUNDEE UTD..1 ANTHONY BROWN

DUNDEE UNITED boss Tam Courts admitted he's happy with how his players are responding to his work as he savoured a fourth win in a row.

A first-half strike from Peter Pawlett was enough to see off East Fife and top their League Cup group.

And Courts said: "I'm delighted to get through the group. The display had pleasing aspects, particularly in the first half.

"They're responding well to the way we want to play so it gives me confidence going forward."

With United having all but secured qualification to the last 16 after winning their opening three Group B matches, Courts took the chance to make five changes from the team that had beaten Arbroath.

Kieran Freeman, Flynn Duf fy, Jeando Fuchs, Pawlett and Nicky Clark all came into the side, while talisman Lawrence Shankland got a rest.

the Premiership side had a decent chance after six minutes when Freeman's cross found Clark who was unable to get a proper connection on his shot from six yards.

The Fifers went close in 15 minutes when Chris Higgins headed over. from Connor McManus' corner.

After struggling to create much, United eventually found a breakthrough in 41 minutes when Ian Harkes dinked a ball over the top and Pawlett ran clear to slot beyond Scott Gallacher from the edge of the box.

The home side threatened an equaliser in 67 minutes when Kevin Smith unleashed a shot but Benjamin Siegrist did well to make the block.

Florent Hoti and Mark Reynolds both went close to adding a second one was enough for United.

Fifers gaffer Darren Young said: "We played some great stuff."
