BOY, 9, DIES IN STABBING; Man arrested on suspicion of murder.

A NINE-YEAR-OLD boy has died after being stabbed, police said today.

Police were called around 7.45pm last night to a house on Rookes Avenue, Bradford, West Yorkshire, after reports of the stabbing.

West Yorkshire Police said the boy, who has not been named, was taken to Bradford Royal Infirmary by ambulance but died from his injuries shortly after 8pm.

A 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is being held in police custody.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said it was not clear if the boy had been injured with a knife or another type of weapon.

Police said inquiries into the death were continuing.

The address on a housing estate in the Wibsey area was cordoned off, and police said neighbourhood officers were in the area. Yorkshire Ambulance Service said a call was received at 7.42pm and a rapid response vehicle and ambulance were sent to the address.

Sky News reported the man arrested was believed to be the boy's older brother.
