PORT GLASGOW featherweight Barry Hawthorne lost a bruising battle on points to local scrapper Jamie McKeevor at Everton Park Sports Centre in Liverpool last night.

McKeevor edged it 58-57 after battling on with a cut over his right eye from the middle of the fourth round and Hawthorne also finished with a badly swollen eye.

On the same bill, New Cumnock super-featherweight Andrew Ferrans slipped to a 39-37 defeat against big hitting Liverpudlian Tony Mulholland who retained his unbeaten record.
