BOWMAR INSTRUMENT STATEMENT

PHOENIX, Nov. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Bowmar Instrument Corp. (AMEX: BOM) stated today that there are no new developments in its business or affairs which in its view would account for the dramatic increase in its share price and volume. The company believes the activity may be attributable to favorable comments about the company and its prospects on both CNBC and PBS on Monday.
The PBS report cited a money manager who was "bullish on the company's new dental product, a high definition, low-intensity X-ray." As previously announced, this product, known as the HDLX, was designed by Panoramic Corp., a leading marketer of specialized dental X-ray machines. Bowmar has a contract to produce three prototypes of this real-time dental intra-oral imaging system and delivery is expected before the end of the calendar year. It should be noted that before the product can be distributed, the HDLX must be thoroughly field tested and Panoramic must receive approval to market the product from the Federal Food & Drug Administration. Panoramic has advised Bowmar that it expects such approval within six months; however, there can be no assurance that this time schedule will be met. Panoramic will market this product after testing and approval, and BOM presently has no contract with Panoramic for future production of the HDLX. Moreover, the market potential of the HDLX is unknown at this time.
As previously announced, the company is seeking possible acquisitions. Bowmar has had preliminary discussions with a number of potential candidates, but has not reached any understandings to date. When, as and if any understanding is reached, the company will make an appropriate announcement.
Bowmar, which is headquartered in Phoenix, manufactures and sells electronic and electromechanical products with specific applications in the aerospace, electronic and computer industries. The company's manufacturing facilities are located in Fort Wayne, Ind., and Phoenix.
