BOWLS: Champions through to last 16.
FORMER county flat green singles champions Dave Hobbis, Geoff Green, Mike Caldwell and Keith Wooding have all qualified for the last 16 of this season's event.
In last night's area finals Stratford's Hobbis was a 21-19 away winner against Welford's Peter Day; Wolvey's Green won 21-10 at his home club against Avenue Coventry's Paul Taylor; Stratford's Caldwell registered a 21-16 away victory over Little Compton's Dan Box; and Avenue Coventry's Wooding beat his clubmate Phil Birch 21-10.
Surprise of the round was the defeat of former champion Graham Ashby of Avenue Coventry who lost his away tie 21-14 to Nuneaton's Dave Warmington.
