BOSTON-BASED INVESTORS BANK & TRUST COMPANY HOSTS AND TRAINS POLISH SECURITIES INDUSTRY OFFICIALS

BOSTON, Aug. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Investors Bank & Trust Company, a Boston-based mutual fund custodian bank, is currently hosting a four-week Intern Program designed to assist the Polish Securities Commission in becoming more familiar with the U.S. financial services industry. The program's objective is to provide the visiting Polish securities executives with an overview of the operations and activities of a U.S. investment firm and the mutual fund industry.
In announcing the program, the president of Investors Bank & Trust Company, Kevin Sheehan, said that "the bank is both proud and excited to volunteer its expertise to serve the growth of the financial services industry across the globe." Investors Bank currently supports its clients in 54 countries worldwide with assets under custody of $50 billion.
"Specifically," Sheehan added, "With the current interest in investment fund vehicles in Poland, that country's capital market community is facing a sudden spurt of activity and growth. We are pleased that Investors Bank can help provide an important base to that process."
While the Investor Bank's Intern Program for the Polish executives is based on the intensive internal program the bank developed to train its own employees, it has been tailored to meet the specific needs of the Polish Securities Commission. For example, the Intern Program includes high level visits with the Securities & Exchange Commission and The Federal Reserve Board, in addition to learning about wholesale and retail mutual fund distribution, daily recordkeeping functions, settlement and regulatory and audit reporting requirements.
"Throughout the four-week period" Sheehan said, "We hope Investors Bank will provide its Polish guests with the sense of professionalism, integrity and the strong organizational techniques that characterize the success of the U.S. investment community."
The Polish securities officials, Iwona Dzwonkowska and Aleksander Chlopecki, are confident that they will bring back to their country new- found knowledge that they can put to good use in their roles as financial industry regulators.
The Intern Program is sponsored by the New York-based Financial Services Volunteer Corp (FSVC), a private, not-for-profit organization with the goal of enhancing the understanding of foreign securities professionals in the ways of the financial services industry in the United States.
The Polish Securities Commission oversees Poland's fully functional, automated stock exchange, which currently supports $85 million in weekly trading volume.
Investors Bank & Trust Company is a subsidiary of Boston-based Eaton Vance Corp. (NASDAQ-NMS: EAVN) an investment management firm with over $13 billion of assets under management. Eaton Vance is traded on the Over-The-Counter market under the symbol EAVN.
