BOSTON ROTISSERIE CHICKEN PUTS A SPIN ON CLEVELAND

CLEVELAND, Aug. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Boston Chicken, the homestyle maker of rotisserie-roasted chicken and the national leader in the fresh prepared meals-to-go category, today opened its first "free-standing" location at 1350 W. Pleasant Valley Road in Parma, Ohio, as part of an aggressive expansion which will total 10 Cleveland-area stores by December.
"Boston Chicken will be the answer for many Cleveland families," said John Altomare, vice president of operations for P&L Food Service, Inc., the local franchisee, "because we provide the wholesome meals found in the full-service segment with the speed and convenience of a fast-service restaurant. Our biggest competitor is mom.
"Part of what appeals to our customers is the fact that there are no microwaves or deep fryers in our stores. We use fresh -- not frozen chicken and our menu items are prepared from scratch on the premises, then roasted, steamed or baked," said Altomare.
He said the Boston Chicken menu consists of marinated, rotisserie-roasted chicken, sandwiches, homemade chicken pot pies and old-fashioned chicken soup. Individual entrees are priced from $3.99. Value-priced family meal combinations are also available for two to 10 people. "Here is the real value," said Altomare. "We offer a whole chicken, your choice of two hot or cold side items and cornbread for $12.99. Three people can dine out for under $5 each."
Freshly prepared side dishes include homemade mashed potatoes, butternut squash, creamed spinach, garlic and dill new potatoes, stuffing, zucchini marinara, herbed corn, fresh deli salads like tortellini, cranberry walnut relish, and chunky chicken, along with a rotation of seasonal favorites like chicken pasta salad and fruit salad.
"The finishing touch is the freshly baked cornbread that comes with each meal," said Altomare. "All dishes are available to meet patrons' family, party and business meeting needs, and are conveniently packaged and ready for take-out or dine-in," he added.
P&L Food Service, Inc. also owns and operates four Boston Chicken locations in western Pennsylvania.
