BOSTON CHICKEN OPENS IN MONROEVILLE, PA.

MONROEVILLE, Pa., June 21 /PRNewswire/ -- What has two wings, a Boston accent, and has landed in Monroeville? Boston Chicken of course.
Located at 3776 William Penn Highway (the former site of PNB Financial Institution) this homestyle maker of rotisserie-roasted chicken today opened its third Pittsburgh-area location.
"Boston Chicken will be the answer for many two-career families," said Pat McDonnell, president of P&L Food Services. "We cater to `active professionals' -- working couples who have limited time to prepare a fresh hot meal for the entire family and who are turned off by traditional fast food." This is the first "free-standing" location in the Pittsburgh area, and plans are to open another store in the North Hills/McKnight Road by mid-July.
"Part of what is appealing to customers is the fact that there are no microwaves or deep fryers in our stores. Everything is prepared fresh, then roasted, steamed or baked," said McDonnell.
He said the Boston Chicken menu consists of marinated, rotisserie-roasted chicken, sandwiches, home-made chicken pot pies and old-fashioned chicken soup. Individual entrees are priced from $3.99. Value-priced family meal combinations are also available for two to 10 people. "Here is the real value," said McDonnell, "we offer a whole bird, your choice of two hot or cold side items and cornbread for $12.99. Three people can dine out for under $5 each."
Boston Chicken side dishes include garlic and dill new potatoes, butternut squash, creamed spinach, homemade mashed potatoes and stuffing. Deli salads such as cole slaw, tortellini and cranberry walnut relish are also available in a variety of sizes.
"The finishing touch is the freshly baked cornbread that comes with each meal," said McDonnell. "All dishes are available for dine-in or carry out," he added.
P&L Food Services also operates three eastern Ohio Boston Chicken franchises and plans to open five to seven more in Pittsburgh by year's end.
