BOSE WILL BUILD NEW DISTRIBUTION CENTER IN YUMA, ARIZ.
FRAMINGHAM, Mass., June 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Bose Corporation, the international audio products manufacturer headquartered here, has announced plans to build a new 60,000 square foot warehouse and distribution center in Yuma, Ariz. For the past four years the company has operated a smaller warehouse facility in Yuma in a rental property.
Construction on the new building will begin this month and will be completed by November. Bose has purchased a ten acre site in the southeast section of Yuma, at Avenue 3-1/2 E and East County 12th Street. Bose also operates a manufacturing facility in San Luis, Sonora, Mexico.
Contract for the construction of the new center has been awarded to Gilpin's Construction Company, Inc. of Yuma.
The new facility will house raw material for the Mexican plant and will serve as Bose's distribution center for the Western United States. In addition, the facility will be equipped for wood machining loudspeaker cabinets.
"After four years in Yuma, we are pleased to be building our own facility," says Bose Corporation President Sherwin Greenblatt. "Locating a portion of our business in the Southwest in general, and Yuma in particular, was an excellent decision for the company. Our success in Yuma is the result of a committed and caring work force and community."
The Bose facilities in Yuma and San Luis are managed by Gerry Donovan, director of Southwest Operations for Bose Corporation. Last year they received the Bose Quality Award for Excellence.
The new Bose distribution center will bring approximately 50 new jobs to Yuma, over the next two to three years.
Bose also maintains facilities in Framingham and Westborough, Mass.; Colebrook, N.H.; Hillsdale, Mich., Sainte-Marie, Quebec, Canada; and Carrickmacross, Ireland.
Bose Corporation is the world's largest manufacturer of component quality home stereo loudspeakers and acoustically customized automotive music systems. The company was founded in 1964 by a Massachusetts Institute of Technology professor, Dr. Amar G. Bose. His goal is to create products that combine high technology with simplicity and small size: to create the best possible sound systems that are easy to use and accessible to all consumers.
