 BOSE APPOINTS DDB NEEDHAM
FRAMINGHAM, Mass., Jan. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Bose Corporation, the

international audio equipment manufacturer, announced today the appointment of DDB Needham New York to handle a variety of current and new product advertising assignments.
According to Bose, DDB Needham was awarded the account on the strength of the work the agency has done for a number of its clients. "When we looked for an agency to augment our in-house capabilities, we looked for advertising we admired. We were impressed with DDB Needham's creative abilities," said Sherwin Greenblatt, president of Bose.
"Our business is expanding rapidly into new markets and new product areas. We wanted a top-notch agency that would work with us to achieve our goals -- DDB Needham fits that bill," said Greenblatt.
John Bernbach, president of DDB Needham, said, "Bose is a perfect fit at DDB Needham. They produce only the highest quality products, they're innovators and continually strive for excellence. These are qualities we admire and embrace."
The agency selection process that Bose undertook was somewhat unusual. Bose chose DDB Needham based on demonstrated capabilities rather than conducting a so-called "shoot-out." "We believe that reviewing the work that an agency has done for its current clients is the most reliable predictor of how they'll perform for us," said Greenblatt.
Bose Corporation is the world's largest manufacturer of component- quality loudspeakers. Bose speakers are the best selling in the United States, Europe, and Japan, as well as in Canada and Australia.
The company was founded in 1964 by MIT professor Dr. Amar G. Bose, whose original research and marketing philosophies consistently set Bose Corporation apart from its competition. His goal is to create products that combine high technology with simplicity and small size: to create the best possible sound systems that are easy to use and accessible to all customers.
DDB Needham is the eighth largest advertising agency in the world and fifth largest in the United States. The agency has 114 offices in 55 countries and is part of the Omnicom Group, which is the fourth largest agency holding company.
