BOOTH AMERICAN COMPANY ACQUIRES 100 PERCENT OF THE ASSETS OF BOOTH COMMUNICATIONS AND COMPLETES ACQUISITION OF CALIFORNIA CABLE TV SYSTEM

 DETROIT, Jan. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Booth American today announced it has completed the purchase of the remaining 50 percent interest in two partnerships equally owned with Heritage American, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Tele-Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: TCOMA), the nation's largest cable television company. The partnerships, Booth Communications of Birmingham and Booth Communications of Bloomfield, serve a significant portion of Oakland County, Mich. In exchange, Booth will swap its cable television system serving Watertown, S.D., plus some monetary consideration.
 In addition, Booth has recently acquired the assets of Total TV of Victorville, Inc., a cable television system serving portions of Victorville and San Bernardino County, Calif. The system which operates in a region served by Hi-Desert Cablevision, a Booth Company, adds approximately 2,750 subscribers to a base of over 30,000 subscribers already served by Booth.
 Booth American Company is a diversified electronic media company with headquarters in Detroit. The company operates two divisions in radio broadcasting and cable television including its wholly owned subsidiary Genesis Broadcasting, Inc., which is based in Dallas. The radio group operates 18 stations in the U.S. With this acquisition, its domestic cable television division will operate nine systems serving approximately 140,000 subscribers in eight states.
 In addition, the company is a major shareholder and co-founder in English Cable Enterprises which is in the process of constructing broadband cable television and telephone service to a contiguous service area of approximately 400,000 homes in the counties of Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire within 30 miles of London.
