 PALO ALTO, Calif., Oct. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- The board of directors of


Consolidated Freightways Inc. (NYSE: CNF) has elected Maryla Boonstoppel to the position of corporate secretary.
 Boonstoppel, 46, is director of investor relations for the company and will retain those responsibilities. As corporate secretary, she assumes additional responsibility for board matters, the annual shareholders meeting and corporate governance issues.
 She joined the CF companies in 1991 as director of investor relations. In that position, she oversees investor relations and shareholder communications activities for institutional and individual investors in the company's stock and debt securities.
 Boonstoppel has 21 years of experience in financial communications. She previously worked for McKesson Corp. in San Francisco, where she was director of investor relations. Prior to that, she advanced through securities analysis and financial relations positions at Potlatch Corp., Itel Corp. and Birr, Wilson & Co.
 She is a member of the board of directors of the National Investor Relations Institute.
 A native of Salem, Ore., Boonstoppel holds a bachelor's degree in English and philosophy from Sonoma State University and a master's of business administration in finance from the University of California at Berkeley.
