BOOMTOWN ANNOUNCES LAS VEGAS DEFINITIVE AGREEMENT; EDWARD P. ROSKI JR. JOINS BOARD OF DIRECTORS

 RENO, Nev., July 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Boomtown Inc. (NASDAQ: BMTN) has completed a definitive agreement with entities controlled by Edward P. Roski Jr. for the construction of a $70 million hotel/casino resort facility at the southern gateway of Las Vegas. The company also announced that ground has been broken for the project which is located on a 56-acre site at the interchange of Blue Diamond Road and Interstate 15, the principal thoroughfare connecting Southern California to Las Vegas. It is expected that gaming operations will begin in June of 1994.
 As planned, Roski, 54, of Majestic Realty, the company's joint venture partner for the project, has been elected to the Boomtown board of directors, filling a newly created position. He brings significant large project design, construction and development experience to the organization. Founded in 1948, Majestic Realty is one of California's oldest and largest real estate firms with a portfolio of approximately 30 million square feet. Commerce Construction, a wholly owned subsidiary of Majestic Realty, will serve as the general contractor for the Boomtown Blue Diamond project.
 With an old mining town theme, plans call for Boomtown Blue Diamond to include a 34,000-square-foot casino with 1,000 slot machines and 30 table games, 300 hotel rooms, a 460-space full-service recreational vehicle park, two restaurants and an entertainment lounge. Featuring the celebrations of a thriving mining town, relaxed rustic charm and extraordinary service, the Boomtown Blue Diamond will offer tourists and residents an invitingly different Las Vegas experience emphasizing family comfort, convenience and affordable quality.
 Timothy Parrott, Boomtown's chairman and chief executive officer, said: "We're very pleased to finalize the definitive agreement and break ground for this major project. Ed Roski Jr. brings great experience and expertise in real estate and development to the board and will contribute significantly as we press forward with Boomtown's expansion in Nevada, Louisiana, Mississippi and other gaming jurisdictions.
 "The Boomtown concept has proven highly successful in Reno and we're all very excited about the potential of our Las Vegas project. With easy access from Interstate 15, we will provide an attractive, convenient, moderately priced alternate for Las Vegas visitors and local residents as well.
 "In addition, our other expansion projects in Mississippi and Louisiana are on target for planned openings in the spring and summer, respectively, of 1994."
 The company has received preliminary approval from the Louisiana Riverboat Gaming Commission for the award of one of the remaining seven licenses out of a total of 15 being issued by the Commission for the operation of riverboat gaming within the state. The company plans to build and operate a riverboat casino from a seven-acre site located on the Harvey Canal, eight miles from New Orleans' French Quarter with opening scheduled for the summer of 1994.
 The company also plans to develop a new dockside casino on the back bay of Biloxi, Miss., one half-mile from Interstate 110, the principal artery linking Interstate 10 and the Biloxi resort area on the Gulf Coast. Operations there are expected to commence in the spring of 1994.
 Boomtown Inc., a public company since October 1992, owns and operates a western-themed casino approximately seven miles west of Reno. Recently, the casino was expanded 38 percent to 40,000 square feet, and a new family entertainment center was added to attract families and local patrons. The Reno Facilities also include a 122-room hotel, a 16-acre truck stop, a 203-space full-service recreational vehicle park and other related amenities.
