BOOM IN HOME OFFICES SPELLS INCREASED NEED
FOR FIRE PROTECTION FOR COMPUTER MEDIA
ROCHESTER, N.Y., Sept. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, more than 30 million households have dedicated office space for working from home; and government studies project that one-third of the workforce will work from home within the next 20 years.
"While those home workers vary tremendously in their occupation, they have one thing in common: they store important documents or business records at home. Often those unprotected records and documents stored in desk drawers and file cabinets could be lost or destroyed... due to fire," said Jim Brush, vice president sales & marketing, Sentry Group, leading manufacturer of UL-classified, fire-resistant storage units.
"In fact, documents and records stored on computer diskettes face even greater danger of loss -- since software and diskettes are even more vulnerable to heat and humidity than paper," continued Mr. Brush.
That's why, Sentry Group offers several Underwriters Laboratories (UL)-classified products designed specifically to safeguard those valuable diskettes from heat, humidity and even electromagnetic radiation (EMI) damage.
To protect computer diskettes, Mr. Brush described these units. The Sentry Fire-Safe media chest, with pull-out disk organizer for desk-top use, is compact enough to slip into a desk or file drawer, yet holds dozens of diskettes, data cartridges and digital cassettes. Suggested retail price is $239.
The Fire-Safe media file offers the same UL-classified protection with removable storage tray and its larger size enables computer users to store multiple diskettes, data cartridges and digital cassettes. Suggested retail price is $389.
Even more storage capacity is offered in the Fire-Safe media safe, a floor-standing, wheelable or bolt-down unit made of heavy gauge steel construction with extra security. Large enough for video or audio tapes as well as computer materials, it can accommodate hundreds of diskettes, data cartridges and digital cassettes. Suggested retail price is $1,029.
"Whether your home offices requires the storing of records and documents on paper or computer diskettes -- Sentry Group produces a wide range of UL-classified fire-resistant storage units that will offer the proper protection at an affordable price," concluded Mr. Brush.
The Sentry computer storage units are sold at Staples and other office products dealers throughout the country. For further information, contact Sentry Group, 1-800-828-1438.
