BOOK YOUR PLACE IN A BUNGEE BONANZA; Taking plunge can secure future of Mansion House.

Arts Editor BodenJones @ A 'BUNGEE Fest' is set to take place at Calderstones Park this summer to raise funds for the future of its Mansion House.

The Reader Organisation is encouraging members of the public to take the plunge with a 150ft bungee jump.

The festival, taking place across the weekend of August 8-9, will also feature live music, craft stalls, refreshments and the enthusiasm of thrill-seekers, whose donations will provide crucial funding for The Reader Organisation.

And organisers say a bungee jump of this scale is the first of its kind in Liverpool and has already attracted a lot of attention.

The Reader Organisation director Jane Davies says: "I'm delighted to see that people are quite literally, 'jumping at the opportunity' to take part in our 150ft bungee and I admire their nerves of steel.

"We're in the process of restoring Calderstones Mansion House to its full glory and transforming it into an international flagship project for shared reading.

"All proceeds from Bungee Fest will equip our organisation with the resources to improve wellbeing and extend the pleasure of reading for all.

"If you've got a friend, or think you're up to the challenge, jump on the bandwagon and assist our organisation with your bravery.

"An opportunity of this scale has never visited Liverpool before and one person's leap of a lifetime will benefit generations to come!" The Reader Organisation is a charitable social enterprise working to connect people with literature through shared reading. It aims to transform Calderstones Mansion House into an international flagship project.

Tickets for the bungee jump cost PS80 and are inclusive of admission fee and a donation to The Reader Organisation. People will also receive a goody bag.
