BOOK ABOUT WWII POW RECEIVES FALLOT LITERARY AWARD
 ANN ARBOR, Mich., April 14 /PRNewswire/ -- A compelling account by a

U.S. Marine prisoner of war has been honored with a Fallot Literary Award.
The Fallot Literary Awards are presented to books of outstanding literary distinction and subject matter by the National Association of Independent Publishers.
The book is "Caged Dragons: An American POW in WW II Japan" by Robert E. Haney. It was published by Momentum Books Ltd. of Ann Arbor.
Haney, originally from Big Beaver (now Troy), Mich., is a resident of Ballico, Calif.
The award is given for writing merit and for "special insight into subject matter." According to the judges, they found Haney's account "superior, with a very special approach to its subject."
Some 500 books were entered and Haney's book was one of four selected for the Fallot Award.
"It is fitting that Mr. Haney's book should be recognized at this time," according to a spokesman for the publisher. "May 6 is the 50th anniversary of the fall of the Philippines, the largest surrender of American military forces in history, and this book gives penetrating insights into the POW experience and its long-term effects on tens of thousands of American military men."
The book is available through bookstores nationwide or may be ordered directly from Momentum Books at 210 Collingwood, Suite 106, Ann Arbor, MI 48103; telephone 313-995-3339. The cost of the hardcover book is $19.95. Mail orders must be prepaid including $2.50 for shipping and handling. Michigan residents add sales tax. For VISA and MasterCard orders phone 1-800-345-0096.
