BON SECOURS HOSPITAL MAKES EMPLOYEES' LIVES LESS 'TAXING'
ST. CLAIR SHORES, Mich., April 13 /PRNewswire/ -- In an effort to make hospital employees' live less "taxing," Bon Secours of the Michigan Healthcare System is introducing "Express Shopping," a grocery shopping service for employees on April 15 (tax day). This service is the first of its kind at a Michigan hospital.
Errands Unlimited, Inc. of Grosse Pointe Woods will shop for Bon Secours employees while they work. The hospital staff just drop off order forms in Human Resources, and by the next afternoon, groceries will be delivered. Errands Unlimited will shop at The Palermo Food Company, Nino Salvaggio's Fruit and Vegetable Market, Giglio's Market, Grosse Pointe Fish and Seafood and Kroger's.
"We want to make coming to work as easy as possible," said Henry DeVries Jr., chief executive officer of Bon Secours. "Employees are our most important resource. If their lives are less stressful, they'll feel they can perform even better at work."
In addition to "Express Shopping," Bon Secours has introduced a new child-care option for its employees, DeVries explained. The health-care system has entered into an agreement with the Lakeshore YMCA in St. Clair Shores to provide child-care services for employees with children age 2 1/2 to 5. Ten slots will be reserved for Bon Secours staff. Those employees with children at the YMCA will comprise a parent advisory board. Plus, a $33 YMCA membership fee will be waived for all Bon Secours staff. According to DeVries, the YMCA intends to renovate a convent adjacent to the YMCA building to eventually accommodate infants and toddlers.
"This agreement begins to answer a dramatic need for high-quality child-care services," DeVries said. "And when the Y begins caring for infants and toddlers, an even bigger employee need will be addressed."
