BOMBAY COMPANY ANNOUNCES SALES INCREASE FOR FEBRUARY FORT WORTH, Texas, Feb. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- The Bombay Company, Inc.
(AMEX: BBA) reported today that sales for the four-week period ended Feb. 23, 1992, increased 13 percent to $12,477,000 from $11,043,000 for the same period last year.
Same store sales for stores in existence more than one year increased 3 percent. For the 34-week period ended Feb. 23, 1992, total sales increased 23 percent to $120,792,000 from $98,524,000 while same store sales increased 10 percent. Robert E.M. Nourse, president and chief executive officer, stated that same store sales showed continued strength through the first half of February 1992 but softened in the second half. Results were influenced by a change in the company's marketing calendar which shifted business relating to the end of the winter sale period into March 1992 sales. Nourse noted that February marked the 13th consecutive month of same store sales gains.
