 BOMBARDIER REGIONAL AIRCRAFT DIVISION
PROVIDES NEW SOLUTIONS FOR REGIONAL AIRLINES
FARNBOROUGH, U.K., Sept. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- The capabilities and structure for the new Bombardier Regional Aircraft Division -- which will market and support the Canadair Regional Jet and the de Havilland Dash 8 family -- were unveiled here today by Robert A. Wohl, president of the division.
"This new structure will allow airlines to systematically increase their capabilities and customer appeal, through expanded product choices, service reliability, and operating economics," Wohl said. "The melding of the two organizations provides airlines with choices they can't find anywhere else. Between the Regional Jet and the Dash 8, there are about 470 orders and options among 60 customers in 22 countries worldwide. And there are more Dash 8s in service -- 329 -- than any other current generation regional airliner.
"Throughout the recent economic slump, both product lines have held their own in terms of market share, and as airlines gear up for recovery, we're confident that we can provide the best combination of technology, operational flexibility and after sales support in the industry."
Bombardier Regional Aircraft was formed in July as part of the Bombardier Aerospace/North America Group. The new division combines marketing, sales, contracts and customer support activities for the Regional Jet and Dash 8 product lines, and will continue to support other de Havilland products in use with airlines and other operators worldwide.
"The combined team, headquartered at the de Havilland facility in Toronto, will provide greater scope for airlines both in planning processes and in-service support," Wohl says.
Reporting to Wohl will be Tom Appleton, executive vice president, marketing and sales, Larry Dugan, vice president, customer support and Paul Francoeur, vice president, contracts. Reporting to Appleton will be John Giraudy, vice president, international sales, and John Howarth, vice president of sales for the Americas.
Marketing activities will include an expanded analysis capability to work with airline planners, while the customer support function has been expanded to provide additional services on a more timely basis. On-line reporting and information exchange will increase the ability to analyze operational data and supply relevant information to airlines on a timely basis. In addition, logistics and spares support will also be on line to speed the process.
Engineering and manufacturing for the Regional Jet and Dash 8 will continue at their present locations, and the Regional Jet program management office, customer training and technical publications will remain in Montreal as part of the new division.
"We plan to provide the tools for airline executives to make the right decisions," Wohl says. "And we'll provide the support to prove that the selection of Bombardier products is the right decision."
