BOMB BARRIERS BACK AT COURTS; BARRIERS GO BACK UP.

SECURITY chiefs are closing a road between two courts because they fear a bomb attack, it emerged last night.

The road between the Royal Courts of Justice and the Laganside courts in Belfast is used by buses and motorists visiting or working in the courts.

However the new barriers will close it off to all traffic.

The decision was made after an upsurge in dissident republican bomb attacks.

It comes after years of relaxing of security measures to make the city centre more attractive.

The Laganside complex houses magistrates' courts, Crown courts and several Courts Service offices. The Royal Courts of Justice houses the High Court and civil courts.

In February dissident republicans blasted Newry courthouse.
