BOMA website wins award. (Technology: Update).

Out of a field of 400 competitors, BOMA/NY's recently redesigned website ( has been named the 3rd Place Winner of the 2003 New York Society of Association Executives (NYSAE) Cyber Space Award.

The award was presented at the NYSAE Annual Professional Recognition Awards Luncheon on April 16 at the Roosevelt Hotel. Bobbi McGowan, executive director of BOMA/NY, accepted the honor on behalf of the website team, led internally by Michael Skomsky, deputy executive director/director of legislation for the association.

To prepare the site for its December 2002 launch, Skomsky collaborated with the marketing firm Mitchell & Associates, who wrote and developed all creative content, and Janna Shwartsman of Brighton Talented, who directed the art design and all programming.

"By providing a centralized collection of information related to the building ownership and management fields, the revamped site has proven to be of enormous benefit to the BOMAINY membership--as well as the interested public at large. And to ensure that is not only seen as. a valuable data source, but as a repository for breaking news in the industry, site administrators are now able to write and post industry updates in 'real time', which we have used several times in recent months as security issues have arisen," notes McGowan.

Tara Oehlmann, Ed.M, the director of education & membership for NYSAE, remarked: "( exceeded the criteria for this award by exhibiting outstanding immediacy of overview; ease of navigation; aesthetics; consistency; timeliness of content; internal search capabilities; usefulness; interact-ability; originality and Internet vision."

BOMA/NY is the greater New York area Association of BOMA International, with approximately 850 members active in all areas affecting the industry--from continuing education to advocacy to codes & regulations updates. It is the sponsor of the real estate's industry most prestigious awards, the Pinnacle Awards, recognizing excellence in operations and personal contribution to the Association.
