 BOLTWOOD, STUDDARD, ERMENTROUT JOIN BANK SOUTH; BANK NAMES HEADS
 OF CORPORATE BANKING, LOAN ADMINISTRATION, ALSO ADDS GENERAL COUNSEL
 ATLANTA, Jan. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Bank South (NASDAQ: BKSO) announced today three key new members of its organization.
 Joining the company are George M. Boltwood as executive vice president and head of the Corporate Banking Group, Gregory N. Studdard as senior vice president and general counsel, and R. Allen Ermentrout II as senior vice president and manager of Loan Administration for Bank South Corporation.
 "Each of these individuals brings valuable expertise and experience to Bank South," said Patrick L. Flinn, president and chief executive officer. "They will help ensure our success in developing quality credits, providing customer service, and keeping abreast of complex legal issues in our industry."
 Boltwood is responsible for the Corporate Banking Group which includes three Georgia Corporate Divisions, Real Estate, Cash Management, Commercial Finance and Financial Institutions. He comes to Bank South from C&S/Sovran Corporation (now NationsBank) where he was senior vice president and division manager in the U.S. Banking Group. He is a native of Virginia, received his undergraduate degree at The University of Georgia, and has been a resident of Georgia for 26 years.
 As general counsel, Studdard is responsible for the management of all legal issues for Bank South. He joins the company from the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, where he was senior counsel. During his six-year tenure there he was responsible for the legal considerations of bank regulation and oversaw mergers and reorganizations of financial institutions. He regularly led seminars on banking issues for bankers and attorneys throughout the Southeast. Studdard received his undergraduate and law degrees from Emory University, finishing in 1974. Prior to joining the Federal Reserve Bank, he was an attorney in private practice for 11 years. Studdard is a native of Atlanta.
 Ermentrout has responsibility for Loan Review, Appraisal, Loan Operations, Recovery/Collections, Credit Analysis, Credit Operations and Portfolio Administration. He comes to the company from First Florida Banks, Inc. in Tampa, Fla., where he was executive vice president - Credit Administration. He was responsible for the Corporate Loan Review, Credit Policy, Loan Workout and Real Estate Appraisal departments, among other areas. Prior to First Florida, Ermentrout was at First Atlanta (now Wachovia) for 12 years and at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta where he served as a bank examiner for five years. He graduated from Georgia State University in 1969 and completed the School for Examiners, Federal Reserve Board, Washington, D.C., in 1973. Ermentrout first moved to Atlanta in 1959.
