BOISE CASCADE ANNOUNCES ELECTION OF PRESIDENT, CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER
 BOISE, Idaho, Dec. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Boise Cascade Corp. (NYSE: BCC) announced today that George J. Harad has been elected president and chief operating officer. He also has been named to the company's board of directors.
 Harad, 47, most recently served as an executive vice president with responsibility for the company's paper operations. Paper operations account for approximately 60 percent of the company's total sales volume and comprise 10 paper mills, over 15 sales offices and distribution facilities, and a technical resources function. In his new position, Harad will be responsible for all the company's operations in the paper and paper products, building products, and office products distribution businesses. He will also be responsible for management of the company's timber resources.
 Harad joined Boise Cascade in 1971 and has held a succession of operating and staff positions, including that of chief financial officer. He received a B.A. in government from Franklin & Marshall College and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
