BOEING TO HOST FOREIGN OBJECT DAMAGE/DEBRIS (FOD) CONFERENCE

BOEING TO HOST FOREIGN OBJECT DAMAGE/DEBRIS (FOD) CONFERENCE
SEATTLE, April 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Boeing Defense & Space Group announced today it is sponsoring the 13th National Aerospace Foreign Object Damage/Debris (FOD) Conference in Seattle on May 6 - 7.
The FOD Conference will bring together experts to discuss one of the aerospace industry's gravest concerns: potential damage to products by foreign debris and how it can be prevented. Foreign debris includes stray items such as nuts and bolts, which, if left loose in a product, could cause a malfunction.
Boeing is sponsoring this year's conference as part of its continuing effort to provide its customers with FOD-free products and reduce costs attributed to FOD.
The conference, which attracts people from around the globe, has been held twice a year since 1985. Participants include aircraft manufacturers, all branches of the military, airlines, electronic firms, airport authorities, foreign interests and aircraft engine companies, as well as major tool suppliers.
The featured speaker at this year's conference is U.S. Air Force Brig. Gen. Jean A. Klick, from the Defense Contract Management Agency. Gen. Klick will address how the Air Force works to achieve FOD-free deliveries to inventory and will provide information about current proven practices and technological advancements that prevent FOD.
Gen. Klick is vice commander of the Air Force's Space Systems Division, Los Angeles Air Force Base, Calif. She has held that position since March 1990. Her previous position was deputy commander for communications, operations support and control systems, Space Systems Division headquarters.
The two-day conference also will include other presentations from aerospace experts and working sessions on the need to eliminate foreign debris.
