BOB BURKETT NAMED PRESIDENT OF GEFFEN FOUNDATION AND EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT OF THE GEFFEN CO.

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Bob Burkett has been named president of the Geffen Foundation and executive vice president of public affairs of The Geffen Co.
"Bob Burkett's record over the past 10 years speaks for itself," said David Geffen. "His joining my foundation signifies a major commitment to engage more vigorously in the public policy and public affairs arena and is fully consistent with my activities and philanthropy during the past few years, particularly in the areas of civil rights, civil liberties and the fight against AIDS."
Burkett served as senior vice president of corporate affairs for Ted Field's Interscope Inc. for the past seven years. Prior to that time he worked in a similar capacity for Norman Lear. Burkett was a founder and co-chair of the Democratic Party Victory Fund for the 1992 election and is a managing trustee of the Democratic Party.
Burkett is active in a number of civic and charitable organizations, including the American Civil Liberties Union, People for the American Way, the Rape Treatment Center, Hollywood Policy Center, the Los Angeles Free Clinic, The Center for National Policy and is currently an environmental commissioner for the City of Los Angeles.
"This is a monumental opportunity for me," said Burkett. "The scope of David Geffen's palette and his eagerness to apply resources in support of his social and policy agenda presents a huge creative challenge. I am thrilled to be a part of his organization."
From his Westwood, Calif., office, Field said, "Bob spent seven wonderfully productive years with me at Interscope and helped see to fruition many of my public interest, charitable and political goals and dreams. I know I will miss him, but I couldn't be more pleased about his decision to enter into this new venture with my friend David. I wish them both the kind of successes the two of us have enjoyed."
