BOAT DEALERS SNATCH UP SPACE FOR THE 1993 DETROIT BOAT SHOW
NORTHVILLE, Mich., June 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Location, location, location was the topic at hand at a recent draw for space at the 1993 Detroit Boat Show. Representatives from 60 marine businesses snatched up 80 percent of the available bulk space during a three-hour luncheon meeting.
The 1993 Detroit Boat Show scheduled for Jan. 30-Feb. 7 at Cobo Center is celebrating its 35th year and is Michigan's oldest and largest show -- spanning 500,000 contiguous square feet.
"Space sales can go very quickly because it is a strong selling show," said Van Snider, MBIA executive director. "Many exhibitors claim that more than 50 percent of their yearly business is attributed to this nine-day event."
Last year's event drew more than 110,000 boating and fishing enthusiasts and exhibitors generated more than $47 million. "We are looking forward to increased sales and attendance for the upcoming show with recent reports indicating increasing consumer confidence, gradually improving economic conditions and pent-up demand," said Snider. "More than 2,500 boats were sold at last year's event bringing sales up 69 percent from the previous show. We'd like to see that much of an increase again this year."
