 MAINFRAME TO EXPAND MULTI-STATE PROCESSING CAPABILITY
 BLUE BELL, Pa., Dec. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS) today announced that Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota has purchased a Unisys A19 mainframe information hub system valued at about $5 million.
 The system has been shipped and will be installed by mid-December. This is the first U.S. shipment of the A19 systems, one of the most powerful mainframe computers in the world.
 The new Unisys A19 will be an upgrade to the currently installed Unisys A15KX system and will be used to support Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota's mission critical applications. "The addition of this latest Unisys technology will enable us to provide the most efficient services possible to our customers in North Dakota and Wyoming and to the clients of our affiliated companies in 14 states," said Michael Unhjem, president and chief executive officer, Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota. "We are investing in new technology in order to control our costs and at the same time maintain a high level of quality and customer satisfaction," Unhjem said.
 The Unisys A19 system will run a range of optimized mission critical applications integral in the processing of Blue Cross Blue Shield health coverage claims and in the delivery of new consumer services, including a full range of other employee benefits such as dental and vision coverage, life insurance, disability income protection and flexible benefit programs. Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota also administers Parts A and B of the federal Medicare program in North Dakota and Part B in South Dakota and Wyoming. Its information systems network includes a Unisys A6FS medium-size mainframe, an IBM 3090-180J system, multiple Unisys CP2000 communications processors, a PC LAN and several hundred terminals located throughout its multi-state service territory.

 Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota, headquartered in Fargo, is the state's largest health insurer, covering more than 50 percent of the state's population.
