BLOCKBUSTER PRESENTS 16 AWARDS AT FRANCHISE ANNUAL MARKETING EXPO

 FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Oct. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Blockbuster Entertainment Corporation (NYSE: BV), a leading entertainment company, honored 15 national and international franchisees for outstanding performance at the company's fifth Franchise Annual Marketing Expo last week at the Century Plaza in Los Angeles. More than 600 persons attended the four-day event.
 Honored were franchisees headquartered in Alabama, Arizona, Canada, Florida, Hawaii, Kansas, Massachusetts, Mexico, Minnesota, New Jersey, Puerto Rico, Tennessee, Texas and Venezuela.
 Supermodels Kathy Ireland and Cindy Crawford, Producer Aaron Spelling and top Blockbuster executives joined in the presentation ceremony.
 Winners were:
 Pueblo International Inc., San Juan, P.R., the Chairman's Award, for outstanding business operation;
 Area winners of the President's Awards, for the most dramatic gains in a store were:
 Southeast: Southern Stores Video, Memphis, Tenn.;
 Mid-Atlantic: Mach Video Inc., Hamilton Township, N.J.;
 Northeast: Endless Video, Pembroke, Mass.;
 Midwest: Can-Tex Entertainment Company, Calgary, Alberta, Canada;
 Central: Arlington Blockbuster Inc., South Lake, Texas;
 Western: Ghostrider Films Inc., Phoenix, Ariz.;
 International Developer of the Year Award, for exceptional store development, presented to Grupo Mexicano de Video, Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico;
 International Franchisee of the Year Award, for outstanding development of the Blockbuster concept in an international market, presented to Registered Video, Caracas, Venezuela;
 "WOW" Award, for developing and maintaining the best store appearance and impact, U.B. Entertained Inc., Winter Haven, Fla.;
 Developer of the Year Award, for exceptional and outstanding site and store development, Prime Video of El Paso, El Paso, Texas and Mid- America Entertainment Company, Minneapolis;
 Merchant Award, for developing and implementing the best merchandising programs, Leisure Entertainment Inc., Birmingham, Ala.;
 Marketing Award, for consistent and aggressive implementation of local store marketing programs, Major Video of Kansas Inc., Wichita, Kansas;
 Spirit of Blockbuster Award to Pacific Video Entertainment Corp., Honolulu, whose employees, in the wake of three hurricanes, "performed at heroic individual levels to reopen and maintain continuous operation of the store."
 The Franchise Operations Manager Award, to Blockbuster employee Rich Agar for outstanding achievement in supporting the franchisees.
 There were 3,316 home video stores in the Blockbuster system as of Sept. 30, 1993. Of that total, 2,486 were company-owned and 830 were franchise-owned. Blockbuster stores are located in 48 states, the District of Columbia, Guam and Puerto Rico as well as in nine foreign countries: Austria, Australia, Canada, Chile, Mexico, Japan, Spain, the United Kingdom and Venezuela.
